The Benefits of Using Wheel Spacers on Dodge RAM 2500

The Dodge RAM was first introduced to the American market in 1981. It was built to compete with Ford’s F-Series. The first models were based on the Chrysler AD platform which was used extensively for large and medium-duty trucks. The RAM was meant to compete within the local market but soon became a favorite amongst several global import dealers.

If you’re searching for Dodge RAM wheel adapters or spacers, our digital shop offers products of the highest quality that will surely meet your needs and expectations. We have partnered with leading aftermarket manufacturers such as Rugged Ridge and H&R to ensure that parts sold here are exceptionally upscale. These manufacturers recognize the great weight that acts on spacers during braking and acceleration and the adverse effects of spacer failures.

Choosing Bold Pattern & Thickness

When installing an aftermarket rim, it’s important to consider that some wheels are built with the center bore oversized. They have a larger inner diameter compared to the diameter of the wheel hub that they are built to fit onto.

The gap may be too large and unnoticeable to the naked eye. If this happens, the new wheel will not fit as perfectly as it should. This then leads to unwanted movements when the wheel rotates.

Hub-centric rings can be used to eliminate any loose fitment problems and fill the gaps. Such rings include the Project Kics Hub Centric Ring which is available in different sizes to meet varying needs.

Hub-centric rings also come in handy when you’re switching OEM rims between vehicles of different makes that have similar bolt patterns but varying hub sizes.

The washer method is a good inexpensive option as it can be done on each wheel at a time and involves no guesswork. It’s also easy to carry out and does not require any special expertise. Once you’ve determined the right spacer size, order the appropriate wheel spacers, install them and enjoy driving your truck.

Installing Wheel Spacers on Dodge RAM 2500

Step 1 – Preparation

You’ll want to work on your truck on a flat surface. Look for level ground and park it there. Set the parking brake and chock the wheels on the side opposite to that which you’ll be working from. This eliminates any chance of your truck rolling.

Step 2 – Remove the wheel

  • Loosen the lug nuts using the tire iron. Don’t remove them.
  • Raise the truck sufficiently high using the floor jack.
  • Remove the wheel nuts.
  • Remove the wheel.
  • Lower your truck and support it onto the jack stand.

Step 3 – Install the Spacer

  • Install the spacer onto the wheel studs.
  • Tighten the nuts in a crisscrossing arrangement and torque them as you would your wheel.
  • Find out if your wheel is seated flat against the spacer. Run a piece of paper or any straightedge item across the holes through which the nuts run through. If it bumps into any of the old studs, you’ll need to lower the spacer face or trim the stud flush.

Step 4 – Re-install the Wheel

Carefully re-install the wheel and torque it to the required pound-feet. Use the manufacturer’s lug nuts to do this.

Step 5 – Routine Checks

During your regular oil checks, ensure that the spacer and wheel lug nuts are torqued correctly. This makes sure that the truck is safe to drive all through.
