Choosing Bold Pattern & Thickness
When installing an aftermarket rim, it’s important to consider that some wheels are built with the center bore oversized. They have a larger inner diameter compared to the diameter of the wheel hub that they are built to fit onto.

Installing Wheel Spacers on Dodge RAM 2500
Step 1 – Preparation
You’ll want to work on your truck on a flat surface. Look for level ground and park it there. Set the parking brake and chock the wheels on the side opposite to that which you’ll be working from. This eliminates any chance of your truck rolling.
Step 2 – Remove the wheel
- Loosen the lug nuts using the tire iron. Don’t remove them.
- Raise the truck sufficiently high using the floor jack.
- Remove the wheel nuts.
- Remove the wheel.
- Lower your truck and support it onto the jack stand.
Step 3 – Install the Spacer
- Install the spacer onto the wheel studs.
- Tighten the nuts in a crisscrossing arrangement and torque them as you would your wheel.
- Find out if your wheel is seated flat against the spacer. Run a piece of paper or any straightedge item across the holes through which the nuts run through. If it bumps into any of the old studs, you’ll need to lower the spacer face or trim the stud flush.
Step 4 – Re-install the Wheel
Carefully re-install the wheel and torque it to the required pound-feet. Use the manufacturer’s lug nuts to do this.
Step 5 – Routine Checks
During your regular oil checks, ensure that the spacer and wheel lug nuts are torqued correctly. This makes sure that the truck is safe to drive all through.
