Choosing Bolt Pattern & Thickness

Wheel spacers are used for various reasons. They can be installed for aesthetic purposes. Pushing your wheels further outwards gives your GMC Sierra an aggressive look. They can also be used to correct aftermarket wheel offset or improve caliper clearance where a larger brake kit has been installed. They are affordable, easy to install and do not require much expertise. To know your effective wheel offset:

  1. Measure your existing wheel offset
  2. Determine the thickness of your spacer
  3. If listed in inches, convert your measurements to millimeters (1”  = 25 mm, 1.5” = 35 mm )
  4. Find the effective offset by subtracting the spacer thickness from the wheel offset.

Installing Wheel Spacers on GMC Sierra

  1. Chock your tires to prevent the truck from rolling. Jack up the vehicle and let your wheels float above ground.
  2. Use a socket wrench to remove all the lug nuts.
  3. Remove all the wheels/tires.
  4. Remove the factory retaining clips if present. The wheel spacer needs to sit flat to prevent vibration.
  5. Fix and tighten the wheel spacers on the studs.
  6. Re-install your wheels/tires.
  7. Use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to factory specifications.

Wheel lug nuts should be periodically inspected and re-torqued to manufacturer’s specifications during routine maintenance and service checks.
