Why Use Wheel Spacers on BMW X5

If you’re looking for a BMW X5 that is more stable and has a greater chance of staying steady and not overturning, then wheel spacers are just what you need to install onto your vehicle. These essentials will not only aid in widening the wheelbase or wheel offset of your BMW X5 but will also give you the added advantage of being able to fitbigger tires for rock, mud, sand as well as snow.  CNC-machined from billet alloys and outfitted with hardened steel wheel bolts, wheel spacers extend your wheel clearance and improve traction.

However, remember that proper handling of wheel offset is one of the most significant points to bear in mind when going for a wheel change.

Choose the right size

The most common sizes available for these hub centric wheel spacers are 5mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm and 20mm thickness.  Sizes of 10mm and 13mm are only available for G chassis, but X5 and X6 spacers are frequently used in 15mm. Choosing the right size is very important because if you go in for a wheel change, you do not want your tires rubbing fenders.

Everyone has a different idea in their head for the kind of spacer size that they would like. So choosing the right size boils down to being a personal choice. The best way to gauge the exact size that you’re looking for is by using a ruler for the right measurement.  Measure from the top of the wheelrim to decide whether you want the wheel to stick out to 10mm or 12mm. The marking on the ruler will give you a clear indication of the position of the rim after you install the wheel spacer.

How to Install the Wheel Spacers

  1. A BMS floor jack Pad adapter is the ideal equipment if you are working with a floor jack or lift. Jack up the vehicle after the parking brake has been set.
  2. Take off the wheel by loosening and removing the lug bolts with the use of a 17mm socket. One of the best choices for this is the 17mm BMS protective wheel saver socket.
  3. Use sandpaper or a wire brush to clean any grime or rust from the hub of your vehicle so that it becomes easy for the spacer to be removed. However, you can avoid this step if your hub doesn’t need cleaning. Also, do not forget to remove the plastic dust cap from your hub. The wheel spacer will have a problem when fitting if the hub has a dust cap.
  4. Do not use anything to try to free the spacer. Avoid coating the bolts or behind the spacer. The pry tabs behind our spacers will make it easier to remove. Besides this, the anti-seize that we supply can be used for the sides and top of the hubs.
  5. When installing the spacer on the factory hub, extra care should be taken so that the spacer sits evenly with the brake rotor. There should be absolutely no gap between the spacer and the brake rotor, not even enough for a piece of paper to slip through. This is generally applicable for 10mm spacers. *For F30 F31 vehicles, use only 12mm spacer and above in the rear. 10mm spacer can only be used in the front.
  6. The holes on the wheel spacer must be aligned with those on the car. A wheel pin tool will come in handy during the installation, if it is available. The hub centric rings will ensure that your wheels sit firmly in place.
  7. Each spacer comes with the specified set of length bolts so be sure to install the right length extended bolts. The lug nuts should be tightened to 88ftlb with a torque wrench for an E chassis and to 103ftlb for F chassis. Use your hand to spin the wheel. It should spin freely with no obstructions.
  8. As a word of caution – after installing wheel spacers, make sure to double-check the bolt torque after your initial drive.

Appearance: Poping the BMW X5 wheels out to boost the uplift and more catchy vision.
Clearance: Lots of factory BMW X5 wheels are missing plenty of spacing to be in agreement with big brake kits.
Correction: The offset of the BMW X5 wheel assembly may be too high, resulting in the wheels positioned too far inside. This can urge the tire to rub on the inside BMW X5 caliper covers, or other parts. Wheel spacers regulates the offset challenge.
Handling: by arranging your BMW X5 wheels farther away from each other, this basic reshaping can augment the BMW X5 car with more flanking firmness and controlled cornering.
